Many a ghost story had its beginnings in the local town tavern over a frothy taste of beer. Haunted Hocking would like to bring back the flavor of yesteryear tavern legends by presenting Haunted Athens during Ohio Brew Week.
Join us for a twilight ride along the eerie byways and backstreets of Athens for a haunted tour. Athens, Ohio is considered one of the most haunted cities in the U.S. and for good reason. From the ghosts of Wilson’s Hall at Ohio University to the restless spirit of a murderer hung for his crime, we’ve got bone chilling legends to share with the adventure spirited.

The writers, historians and investigators from Haunted Hocking have been exploring and sharing these stories and many others for over ten years in the Appalachian region of Ohio. They have investigated such locations as Old Man’s Cave, Ash Cave, Moonville Tunnel, Hope Furnace and many other eerie haunts. Searching for ghostly evidence is interesting and fun, but the legends that follow along with each story can be as fascinating as the ghosts they leave behind.
Join the investigators from Haunted Hocking and members of the Athens Homebrewers on Thursday, July 15 at 6 p.m. at the Oak Room, 14 Station St. as they share their stories on a guided haunted tour of Athens. Along with the ghost stories they will share their knowledge of local history and participants will even get a chance to try their hand at using the equipment and hunting the ghosts themselves. Reservations are required for the bus trip and can be made at the OBW Welcome Center and Shop or online. (A second tour may be available at 8 p.m.depending on interest. CHECK with the OBW Welcome Center.)
Patrick and Jannette Quackenbush will be on hand to share their stories from the pages of Haunted Hocking: A Ghost Hunters guide to the Hocking Valley as well as search new locations and information not discussed in the book. For more information about Haunted Hocking check out their website at www.hauntedhocking.com and look for the book on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble or www.ghosthunterguide.com.
