We hope/plan to have a reasonably high percentage of BJCP judges,
but other experienced judges and some novice judges will be accepted.
Most judges start as novices, including some of the greats. We welcome
novice judges and will pair them with experienced, BJCP, and pro-brewer
judges as is possible. Judging is not what you'd call "easy,"
but it's enjoyable and satisfying, and there is plenty of help to
guide new judges in doing a good job. Start studying the style
guidelines anytime!
Stewards are the secretaries and "go-fers" of a competition.
They check and double check the paperwork (including the lists of
beers in each judging group, the score sheets and the addition of
numbers, the organization of the scoresheets and cover sheet and
flight summary sheet....). AND they are encouraged to taste and
learn about evaluation of beers. Many people get into beer judging
by starting as stewards. Many others stay stewards forever because
it's quite fun, and an effort which provides a lot of satisfaction
in doing it well.
Sign
up for judging OR stewarding. Do it now! Judge and steward registration
will likely close in May sometime, so do not delay too long.
And if something comes up and your plans must change, please communicate
this as soon as possible. Write to kleinjc40@hotmail.com
or to LindaS@warrenpiece.org
and let us know.

Invitation Letter (Microsoft Word Document).
....and if you are thinking of entering.... we hope you will; here's
the scoop.
(judges may walk in entries as long as they've been registered by
the registration deadline).
