Athens, home of Ohio University, is a unique artsy town nestled
in the rolling hills of Southeastern Ohio. The uptown area still
has its charming red brick streets and they are lined with several
one-of-a-kind art shops and galleries as well as the 10 independent
restaurants all within walking distance.
Just 15 minutes away is historic Victorian Nelsonville where the
50’s era hit movie “Mischief” was filmed. Along
the Public Square, in the Historic Arts District, is an entire community
of artisans, crafts shops and galleries. Explore the work of 1,500
Ohio artisans in Only from Ohio, 54 W. Washington St; experience
the modern art of painter Ron Luce in his gallery, Hocking Valley
Art Supply on the Public Square; see potters, quilters, weavers
at work in their studio-shops all around the Square.
Don't miss the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad and the Rocky Boot
factory and outlet. The Depot in Nelsonville contains the railroad
ticket office, located at the intersection of U.S. Route 33 and
Hocking Parkway (Fulton Street), behind the Rocky Boots Outlet.
The Hocking
Hills region is also just minutes away where you will find Old
Man’s Cave State Park and numerous shops, antique malls and
craft stores. Come see us!!!
